The Tullia Scholarship

Open until November 18, 2025

Named for Tullia, daughter of Cicero and a figure often overlooked in classical narratives, the Tullia Scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding scholar whose work advances the study of women and equity in the field of Classics.

This scholarship supports research that re-centers ancient women—amplifying their voices, stories, and roles in the classical world—and encourages inclusive, intersectional approaches to classical studies today.

Eligibility

The Tullia Scholarship is open to all—students, independent researchers, educators, artists, and scholars at any stage of their journey. Submissions can take many forms: a concrete proposal outlining a project, a video documenting work already in progress, a research paper, or any medium that meaningfully contributes to the study and empowerment of women in the ancient world. We welcome creative, rigorous, and unconventional approaches that challenge the boundaries of traditional classical scholarship.

The Scholarship

The Tullia Scholarship awards a $1,000 grant to help bring the submitted project to life. All funds must be used to further the proposed work—whether that means supporting travel for research, accessing materials, funding time to write, or developing a creative presentation. We trust recipients to use the grant in the spirit of empowering voices, stories, and scholarship centered on women in the ancient world.
